Lock Screen Timeout ignoring Power Plan

I had this all working before 1607, the GPOs and GPPs in place. But for some reason, with a member of staff logged in, it seems to blank the screen after 10 minutes requiring a password to unlock. This is even with a few custom Power Plans in place (showing clearly in the Power Options) that it should not turn off the display for at least 50 minutes!!!!

 

What am I missing here? I've got screen saver set as well with a timeout of 45 minutes, but just after 10 it blanks the screen, locks the computer!!!!

Odd, seemed to work for me. Just needed to set the following.

 

PC Targeted GPO

Computer Configuration (Enabled)/Administrative Templates/System/Power Management/Video and Display Settings

Turn off the display (plugged in): Enabled

Turn Off the Display (seconds): 3600

 

User Targeted GPO

User Configuration (Enabled)/Administrative Templates/Control Panel/Personalization

Screen saver timeout: Enabled

Number of seconds to wait to enable the screen saver: 3600

 

What settings have you got for them when you run a Group Policy Results in GPMC for the computer and user combination?

Likewise, just power plans set up. One for the base PC, and then targeting ones depending on if user of staff.

 

I'm pulling them back a bit and going with the GPO setting above to see if that helps.

Bumping because I experienced similar odd behaviour with Windows 10 after upgrading our fleet, albeit from Windows 7 instead of 1511 > 1607.

Despite the power plan suggesting otherwise, everyone's monitors would go to sleep after 5 minutes and waking would show the logon screen. Initially I thought it was the Interactive logon: Machine inactivity limit computer policy, which was set to 300 seconds (hence me thinking it being the culprit), but changing it did nothing. In the end it was changing our screen saver policies that did the trick; but what I found odd is that the "On resume, display log-on screen" option was unticked and the screen saver itself was set to "None".

 

I managed to successfully change the timeout to 10 minutes and have forced the logon screen/require password options. There might be something else going on or something else/better to change, but I'm satisfied with my results. (I reckon there are some legacy screen saver or power options conflicting that Windows 10 didn't like, but for love nor money I couldn't find anything in Group Policy, so I just created a new policy.)

Sorry to bump this after so long, but this is happening to me at the moment and it's really doing my head in! 😠

 

We have a laptop that the Exams Officer uses to display Examscreen in our main hall (we used to have a desktop but SLT & Trust decided otherwise) so it's preferred that the screen stays on for the length of an Exam. We set up specific user accounts that have no screen timeout, though we've also since set up a power policy just for that laptop, to turn off any known power saving features.

 

No matter what policies I set, the screen still times out after 10 minutes... as if MS have hard coded it in for some reason.

 

I thought I had sorted it yesterday after a reddit post which suggested setting 'ScreenSaveActive' to 0 in the registry under 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop'. I'd set up a user account with this set to 0 and logged it into a test laptop. The screen stayed on for well over 2 hours, so I thought 'YAY'. This morning however, Exams Officer has just reported to me that although it worked fine yesterday, it's now timing out after 10 mins again...

Not a fix for your issues but as a work around can you try PowerToys Awake?

Since it's only one computer I need to keep awake, I'm very happy to try this if it works.
