thatguyindoom Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 Hello! Though I have been in IT for 3 years I have recently had to broaden my horizons based off company requests blah blah. The issue is we have a VDI environment set up for a small office. Users are supposed to have a Home H: drive for personal files and the like. They are mapped through the AD, typically no problems. Two networked drives from the same server that the home drives are on, Z and Q drives are mapped fine, they used to disconnect occasionally but I fixed that with a GPO. I did set up a GPO to map the home drives but I am having two specific users who can literally watch the H drive disappear and reappear, or at least they make it seem that way. I have been trying to lock down this issue for a while now and am open to all suggestions. Users VDI is Windows 7 based, host server is 2012 R2.

What VDI solution are you using and what sort of GPO for user disconnects. We sometimes have issue here on Citrix XenDesktop with hung sessions.
thatguyindoom Posted September 7, 2016 Author Posted September 7, 2016 Sorry for the late response. Been caught up with other fires to put out. The Z and Q drives are for a shared data drive (Z) and the other is for the Quickbooks data (Q) so far as I know. No user is having issues with those drives dropping or remapping. We use the stock VDI solution from VMware Horizon 6. At least that's stock to me it is what we use. As far as GPOs we have a GPO for the Z and Q drives, then a separate one for the Home (H) drive. There is also a GPO to connect the printer but I feel thats neither here nor there since this issue predates that problem. The latest update is the GPO has been tinkered and even though it still drops now and then, few times a day, it reconnects within minutes or even seconds of dropping.
Sir Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 Check out how they are mapped. I have seen group policy refresh brak mapping a on delete/ create mapping.
