Sheridan Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 In my case it looks like my WSUS setup is now borked. Before the holidays it worked fine, with all W7 clients connecting. I converted that server to a VM in the middle of the holidays and now at least half of the W7 clients fail to connect and all log the error "Windows Update Client failed to detect with error 0x80072ee2" So I guess I've got bigger problems than the handful of W10 machines that won't connect!

Hi Abaxter2 thanks for the reply. Having a look at it this is being a bit a of pain, i cant get patch 2919355 to install so the other updates are not showing! Any idea's?

One that was installed 2919355 went on no problem. Now i've got 254 updates to finish off installing!
mowgli82 Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 Windows 10 1607 clients are checking in and puling updates from the WSUS server but when you load the updates page on the client its not saying "some settings are managed by your administrator" in RSOP the settings have applied. Any ideas?

KB3189866 was the update that was promised to fix the WSUS issue with windows 10 build 1607 on the 13th of September and after this update was installed my WSUS seems to be working as it should. I should also mention that Microsoft did have a problem getting KB3189866 out so they released KB3193494 on the 20th of September but both KB3189866 and KB3193494 bring the build number upto 14393.187 so I am finding if you was already on build 14393.187 by either installing KB3189866 or KB3193494 then KB3194496 seems to install well. I have also set the following GPO: Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Delivery Optimization Select "Download Mode" and select "Bypass" So the first thing I would check before installing KB3194496 is that either KB3189866 or KB3193494 is installed on the client.

Both these were installed on my work desktop, I've got it installed eventually but WU hung like crazy and is hanging at 45% on other machines in school. 496 is on my WSUS too. I havent got the GP for delivery optimization so need to look into that, the ADMX is in their though. My version is now 10.0.14393.222 Edited October 3, 2016 by Simcfc73

So far KB3197356 seems to be installing ok at my sites like KB3194496 did but as you did have problems with KB3194496 this latest update may help - well at least we can get the .msu from the microsoft catalog unlike KB3194496

The majority of my site has 496 on, I've just approved 356 on my WSUS so will have a look when its downloaded. We have 2 weeks off at October half term so I'm seriously thinking of going down the LTSB route and starting again with a fresh image

Simcfc73 Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 In PDQ Inventory its the same as EDU. 10.0.14393 I forced the install on my work PC and it took it up to 10.0.14393.223 I love PDQ, its easier to see which computer has the latest updates.
abaxter2 Posted October 7, 2016 Author Posted October 7, 2016 (edited) Sorry I meant the full build base number IE: 10.0.14393.223 beacuse if the base image is below: 10.0.14393.189 it will not include the fix for the windows update client and the issue with installing updates will happen - if the base image is above: 10.0.14393.189 then the fix is included. Ideally the base image should be either 10.0.14393.222 or 10.0.14393.223 It would be very wrong of Microsoft to ship the new LTSB image without that fix included but it would not surprise me. I have download the update directly and now looking to integrate it to my WIM file using DISM.
