Budan18 Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 Hello everybody In the hope somebody can help me. At our business their is a Follow Me server setup with enrollment of a smartcard. Normally not to many issue with it (or user related), but recently their was a report of quite a strange issue. A user has to re-enroll every time he want's to print, every enrollment is been done with the same badge that gives the same code. The user is not manually deleted (since I'm the only on active on the follow me webpage). Has anybody encountered a samelike issue? I've checked if the expiring was not activated and this was not the case. Since our follow me server has been linked with AD, should I be more looking in that direction, or could it be a setting that I'm looking over? Thank you in advance for the help
Sagima Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 I'm not sure it is quite the same problem but occasionally ours get asked to reenroll when the card is misread and/or if the card number has a 0 at the beginning it sometimes seems to exist in ad/papercut without that 0 and we have to manually type it in again.
Budan18 Posted August 19, 2016 Author Posted August 19, 2016 I'll need to check when he scans his badge at the printer over here, since the badges here have different codes for almost everything and the FollowMe code is not written down. I'll keep it updated.
MatthewL Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 When you say FollowMe, I presume you are referring to printing. If so what solution are you using?
Budan18 Posted August 22, 2016 Author Posted August 22, 2016 This is indeed for secure printing. Since I couldn't reach the person yet, I can't see what the issue is and therefore I have no solution yet, in the meantime he re-enrolls every time he needs to print.
Davit2005 Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 What Followme solution are you using??? we have Canon Uniflow here.
Budan18 Posted August 22, 2016 Author Posted August 22, 2016 Since I haven't done any setup of this I'm not sure. The only thing I know is that we use FollowMe, 4 types of RICOHs, AD, and our printserver to achieve this secure printing. This is how it has been explained by my predecessor who doesn't work with me anymore. I'm aware that this will make it difficult to find a solution
Davit2005 Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 You would normally have support for this, how good the support is is another matter. You would need to know the servers involved though. Not knowing the Ricoh solution but with experience of UniFlow you could look at workstations to see if they have any client software as this may point to the main server which deals with authentication, accounting, user authentication etc. Then you may have a number of Print Servers that actually process the jobs.
Budan18 Posted August 22, 2016 Author Posted August 22, 2016 I will contact the server admins to check the setup of the account on the server. Since I thought everything was managed through the WebApp of FollowMe I didn't think about this.
Budan18 Posted August 25, 2016 Author Posted August 25, 2016 Well I kept an eye on the enrollment, which was done successfully and gave card number 789e981f in FollowMe and over night the enrollment just disappeared. No response from our server team though.
