I have been redirecting my documents to Server A for a long while now. A new server was purchased, I have moved over all of the data on it, reshared all the shares etc, and all is working well - or so it would seem. I have changed the redirection in the group policy for the users concerned and it does not seem to be changing it over.

User logs in, takes ages as it cannot find my documents (still looking for old location). Eventually it gives up and loads anyway - the new shares are fine and all is working correctly - apart from the redirection.

Any ideas?

Thanks

I have had this before. You need to change the registry values to point to the new server. You can use regfind.exe and script it to find and replace the entries.

PM me if you want a copy of my script.:)

You shouldn't need to do anything if it's all working properly (aside from changing the path in group policy anyway)

I suggest you check what settings are actually being picked up by the client with RSoP.

Sounds like a GP issue. By changing the value in the GPO this will make the modifcation to the registry. Have you forced a GP update? (gpupdate /force)

Is the old server (and the user shares) still online? When I did this a while ago, I made the mistake of taking the old server offline. As a result the redirection failed because it wanted to see the old share as well before it would move. Not sure if this was because I had offline files on (and it wanted to move any files from old location to new).
