Sims System Manager Backup and Restore

On my Laptop and at a school on a workstation and the server we can make a System Manager 6 backup but when going into the restore route get the following Error

 

Warning Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server - A .NET Framework error occurred during execution of user-defined routine or aggregate "ListSIMSBackups": System.Security.SecurityException: The source was not found, but some or all event logs could not be sear

 

Any ideas?

Have a suspicion that it worked before Summer Upgrade. Have checekd and are on the correct version of .Net Framework

There is a sims patch related to OLE DB but not sure if it would help. Worth calling up sims support, backing up the server, running the patch, see if it works.

 

This would mean u have to backup and restore using SQL Management Studio also if the patch causes issues.

System manager 6? That hasn't been supported for years!!

 

You need to use dbattach.

You can't use DbAttach from a workstation can you?

CCS have replicated the problem now.

Not surprised they can replicate it - just surprised they bothered!

 

Yes, if you've got a standalone workstation with dbattach installed you can connect to sql and do a backup. Failing that SQL cmds, personally I'd do it on the server - mainly to check you've got enough disc space - I know I've done it remotely before after the technician said he had tbs and tbs on the s drive only to find it was installed on the c: drive and it filled it the disc!

You need to request Patch 19098 from Capita.
