LT0 7 Tapes on Backup exec

Hi guys

 

We recently switched from using LT06 > LT07 Tapes

 

However we noticed jobs seems to be taking much longer that before

 

a 500GB Backup on LT6 took around 6 hours on average

 

on LT7 Same data same time window its now taking around 20 hours!

 

 

We use Symantec backup exec 2015

 

anyone has any ideas or experiencing anything similar?

As a suggestion I could recommend that you update the firmware on the drives/library and any patches for Backup Exec. Symantec would prob suggest that anyway.

 

We use Veeam here, junked Backup Exec as soon as Veeam supported tape a few years back (and never looked back). Veeam's tape support is getting better now with the implementation of Grandfather, Father and Son Media pools.

Would also suggest raising a case with Veritas support (given its now Veritas not Symantec) so they can look into it
