Hey everyone Does anyone remember the old MSGP (Microsoft Great Plains System) Many Many years ago, i think it was Northwinds at that time who was running it We still got this system switched on over at here at College its a legacy system set to read only as HR need to keep this going for a bit longer to pull out any past data However we have moved the Database over from a really old server to a new server however i am struggling to find where exactly in MSGP do i need to go to change the location of the database server, and there seems to be nothing online to give any indication where.. i have checked everywhere and stuck at a dead end Anyone know or have any experience of this? I am talking about a system here which we used around 12/13 years ago!

Hi Guys here is a scenario 3 Students here on work experience at the College working in a staff department We created new accounts for them called for example studentWork1 studentWork2 studentWork3 they have same basic permissions like our staff accounts the request was that these accounts will have an AD Login, No Exchange Mailbox but all have access to a shared mailbox when they launch outlook This all works fine when the user logs in under the accounts we have set up the outlook profile so they can access this shared mailbox and they can read emails Now the problem is when they want to reply to these emails the error comes up with "User does not have permission to send on behalf of" Went into Exchange console running 2010 - and there when we try and setup mail flow > send on behalf of > when searching for these users they don't show up - i guess because they don't have an exchange account My question Would I have to create individual mailboxes for them and on the outlook set up their profile so they can only access the shared mailbox then give them permission to send on behalf of? or is there a way of doing it with the current setup Hope i make sense

Hey, Recently we migrated all our users from Exchange to Office 365, a handful of staff members uses Egress for sending/receiving secure emails to external organisations Ever since we have migrated users (Who uses egress) are able to send emails and it is being delivered and recieved, however when recipients who uses egress tries sending an email to any of our users on our domain nothing is being recieved despite being sent I have logged this with egress but just wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar like this? Thanks

Hi We have a staff member here who have their own mailbox along with an additional shared mailbox which they use Since a few days ago each time the user access their Outlook a pop up appears asking user to enter their username and password which is linked to the name of their additional mailbox I can't figure out why this is happening I've tried the following - On Exchange checked the user has permissions to that mailbox which they have - Tried deleting their Outlook Profile and create a new one even at the creation of deleting their profile the pop up appears then, i can just by pass it by pressing escape and their main mailbox loads fine but every so often it pops up asking to enter username and password for the additional mailbox Anyone seen this before or any suggestion?

Hi guys Got a strange issue at the moment with some of our staff members Task Manager seems to be greyed out on certain Staff members login and it works on others, they are all in the same OU and work in the same department so they all have identical user account permissions All our staff members have roaming profiles except for when they log on to activeboard machines (this is in order to speed up logging times especially when lessons start) So this is the dilemma we have at the moment - One Staff member (Staff Member a) logs on to activeboard machine task manager is greyed out - Second staff member (Member b) logs on to activeboard machine task manager is NOT greyed out and she can access it fine We don't use Group policy to manage this Any suggestions where to start or look? I could try giving them new profile but i am actually trying to avoid that as they use a lot of specialist stuff so having to set everything up again on their roaming profile doable but will take quite a bit of work!

Monday - Thursday - Backup to Tape (Differential backups) This includes stuff like Staff/Student Fileservers, Exchange Servers, Web Servers, and other systems Friday - Full backup For SQL Servers We use maintenance Plans across all SQL Servers which them backs them up to a Network Drive Daily i.e Database .bak files for a period of 5 days Then we then backup the Network Drive Daily onto Tape as Full backups on the tape Drive so for SQL Every day we do a full backup Tape Rotation Differential Tapes we change them once a year Full We use one set each week i.e Friday 1 Friday 2 Friday 3 Friday 4 We then archive them off every 5 weeks and retain them for period of 3 years...so Friday one tape will be used 5 times then we will archive that off..so every 5 weeks we do a tape change for whatever Friday set we use Then we move the tapes to our other campus weekly for safeguarding we have 2 main campuses which runs the backups so one site does backups of their servers and then store them offsite that week

Hi guys We have a bit of strange problem here We are using Konica MFD which allows staff to send scanned documents directly to email from the MFD Device, we are using Exchange 2010 for all Staff accounts Now recently we have had this problem whereby if users wanted to delete the email with the attachment from their outlook, if they simply select the message and press delete it comes with an unknown error, however doing a Shift / Delete gets rid of the message this only seems to occur with emails sent via photocopier scan to email Any suggestions where to look? Left us baffled funny thing is as Network administrators we don't get this problem seems to be only random regular staff members!

Hi Guys Working on a script whereby Staff Scans in Students Exams Certificates via Photocopier and it then places a copy to a location the script below does the following 1) Scans to C:\users\location as filename.pdf (The Staff member will manually enter STudent number at the photocopier and it will save the file name as that) 2) Script then creates folder based on filename so here it will create a folder called /filename 3) Moves the PDF into that folder it all works fine however i am trying to modify it so it does not overwrite so if for example staff member makes a typo of student1 and student1 already exists we dont want to override it any suggestions script is as below you can test it @echo off pushd C:\Users\location for %%F in (*.pdf) do ( 2>nul md "%%~nF" >nul move /y "%%~nF*.*" "%%~nF" ) popd

Searching for Multiple Folders across Fileshares
error404 replied to error404's topic in Windows Server 2008
Thanks! That Worked I ran this from a Windows 7 Box Actually the MV didnt work so i used "Move" Instead and Had to remove the $ from the Statement so it looked like this move \\fileshare\Users\studentnumber \\fileshare\Users\Deleted\studentnumber Then i simply ran the script 3 times changing the fileshares each time We had over 5000 students so doing it the Excel method worked a treat Was considering using UMRA to do this but took too long to figure out -
Hi guys we have around 1000 deleted students on our system (Deleted from AD) however their home folders still exist Now we have 3 different fileshares where these students home files are located and unfortunately since their AD account is deleted we have no where of finding out where there home folders are located unless we manually check all the fileshares What im trying to do or accomplish is possibly look for a script or something where i have student numbers on a CSV file and try and query which fileshares these folders belong too which will do it for us Essentially what i am trying to achieve is move all those folders from into another folder but we have around 1000 students so looking for something less time consuming any one got any suggestions or ideas? Thanks

Hi, Not sure if this is the right forum to post in Question: Can anyone recommend me any decent Software/Hardware for managing Encrypted File Services and Email? Because of Safeguarding Issues we are getting request from organization which deals with Safeguarding stuff in terms of when Emails/Files are being sent over to them from Tutors to be encrypted especially if it contains sensitive Data. We got Egress at the moment however we are looking towards more Sophos/Microsoft Related Products Can anyone recommend anything?
