PXE Boot Failing

Morning All,

 

I've got a desktop which I'm trying to PXE boot however it is just sitting on this screen.

Any ideas?

bios update possibly. I assume it networks fine in windows?

I'm trying to put windows on it... hard drive is currently blank.

Might be spanning tree on the switch unless it is just that one computer - try on another switch?

just that computer... managed to put windows on it off dvd - installed network drivers from dell's website but it just won't recognise the network cable.... works fine on 4 other machines!

Have you tried the same computer on a network port you've successfully imaged one of the other 4 machines or a different network cable? If it still doesn't work then would eliminate the port config as the issue.

Hi - reimaged 2 other devices on the same port/cable. The fault is following the desktop so I don't believe its network based...

Is the time and date correct in BIOS?

Has the PC been used before or is it brand new?

date and time is correct - was working fine before it was reimaged.

Faulty on-board NIC? Have you got a spare card you can try?

* Anything in DHCP that would prevent it from getting an IP? Or perhaps an issue with a reservation?

 

* How do you image? Have you removed the computer from SCCM devices or equivalent for your imaging solution if it exists?

Looking at the picture the OP posted, it's not even getting as far as trying to obtain an IP address. Whatever imaging system the OP uses, I don't think it's the issue.

We had a somewhat similar but in reverse issue like this recently with some Lenovo clients. They were on odd occasions trying to boot from PXE. Resetting the boot options in the BIUOS seems to have sorted this. I was wondering if perhaps moving the PXE up to number 1 would help in your case?

I've had weird PXE boot issues with realtek in the past, I just have an intel NIC I keep handy for such occasions. Have you tried adding realtek drivers to the boot image ?
