Windows 10 Mandatory Profile signing on as a Temporary Profile

I am currently preparing to migrate from an RM CC4 network to a vanilla network and I am running in to difficulties with creating a working mandatory profile.

 

I have followed two guides step by step and neither seem to work. When I log in with an account it only logs in with a temporary profile, I've messed around with the permissions and nothing seems to be making this work.

 

Ideally I'd like to be able to get our RM users using the new profile so we can start deploying Windows 10 over the Holidays but I've had no luck so far!

 

Any ideas are much appreciated.

A couple of things to check:

 

UAC - Off

User profiles on the server have to be user.v5 for Windows 10

 

User - XP and obsolete

User.V2 - Windows Vista/7/8/8.1

User.V5 - Windows 10

 

We are able to use the V2 folder for all our other profiles

I had no end of problems with education and enterprise versions and profiles. As for Anniversary, the profiles will move over to a .V6 profile.

I had something similar with temporary profiles - and it only started happening when we had the .v2 and .v5 in the same profiles folder.

 

Found a link on a blog about telling the Win10 clients to observe the profile extension path and et voila it worked. - didn't have to do it on the Win7 machines

Thanks guys, I'll have a look and see what I can do today

I managed to get it working!

 

I was redirecting the profile to the profilename.v5 folder instead of just profilename

 

I'm not sure yet if I can configure a v5 profile for all users because RM creates a profile for each user and replicating it for over a thousand users could take a while.

 

Or am I just missing something? I apologise if I'm missing something obvious as I'm fairly new to this!

Not a clue with RM stuff, but in vanilla AD if you point every student at one profile location in a network share it'll just use that (pulling it to the local machine) not replicate it.
