Hi there,

I'm looking for a new office chair. What do you guys use?

It needs to have very good back and head/neck support when sat in the normal (non reclined) position. I will spend easily 10-12 hours in it a day.

I've been very disappointed with the quality of the humanscale freedom chair that I'd hoped would have been something good but it seems to insist you recline when you want any form of support.

Thoughts welcomed!

Thanks!

Hey Ant,

Thanks for this. It looks like it has all sorts of knobs and screws to get a real good fit, I'll be on the look out for one to have a go in tomorrow when I'm on the great chair hunt!

Cheers,

I love my Hoganasmobler 562. It was picked by an ergonomics specialist and designed so I can sit and move and stretch at the same time.

It's still going strong after 10 years and has paid for its self many times over. I've even fallen asleep in it once or twice.

Hi Kim

I have been using an RBM 870, Cost new was about £750 ex VAT around 2 years ago. Brilliant chair with allsorts of adjustments and height adjustable sliding arm rests etc. very comfortable.

I did have a bit of a battle to get the school to purchase it but once I had had 2 independent workstation assessments, a visit from an Occupational Health professional, and stood my ground, quoting "Reasonable Adjustments to the workspace" etc, they gave way!

all my wrist, elbow, and shoulder aches and pains disappeared as my whole upper body is now supported properly.

Good luck in your search

I have a mobility problem and was finding the standard Office swivel chair, well, a pain! I got hold of the local rep of Office Supplies - Prism in my case a chap by the name of Graham Parker. Graham took some details off me and made a visit with a sample which he set up exactly for me and left with me for the best part of a month. When he was satisfied I was fully satisfied with the chair he then ordered a specified build one for me - even letting me have a choice of colours and within a short time it was delivered by him. I just wish I had the same chair at home. It's fabulous and didn't cost a heap of £s either. I hope that when I retire they gift it to me as a leaving present:) Edited by speckytecky
