I'm about to install some new Ruckus R600 APs, rather than using power injectors I'd like to install some POE switches. I've been recommended some high end HP switches at over £1100 each.

I probably only need 8 ports on each one. What are people's recommendations?

Main thing you want to make sure is that any switch you get has enough power for to draw for the POE. That models peak draw is 11.4W. (100W per 8 ish)

I have heard some good things about the Ubiqtui Edgeswitch, or something like the HP 1910 Series (JE007A or JG350A) might be a good fit.

Edit: Infact those particular HP switches are now EOS. :(

Try the HP 1820 or 1920 Series switches on the HP side should fit the bill.

We use AT-GS 950/10PS with our R710s (also phones and cctv tingys) but not using every port but even if you needed two to run all 8 that would be much much cheaper than that.

We run our APs on D-Link DGS-1210-10P POE switches - 8 POE ports, fully managed, with 2 x 1GB fibre uplink ports, which is more than adequate.

priced Around £100-£110 each.

The JG921A - 1920 8G-POE+ 65w has a POE budget of a little over 8w per port and will be around £160 from genuine UK suppliers. The 180w version (22w per port) is nearer £200.
