mowgli82 Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 Hi, We are a large primary school and currently use Target Tracker for Assessment and Reports we would like to move over to SIMS and am interested in hearing from any other schools that have done this and your experiences. Many Thanks
RootsSchImp Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 Here are some tips, not an exhaustive list by any stretch but Im sure others will pitch in. 1/ Where possible use aspects for a type of assessment, say Word Decoding, and resultsets for a point in time, say Autumn Year 5. When building templates you can clone one you've made then find and replace resultsets, cutting down building time. 2/ Use categories and a standard naming convention for aspects. When setting up it's not so obvious why you need to do this but it makes maintenance of the system much easier. 3/ Nuetral (non colour coded) data entry marksheets. This is a personal one, lots of people RAG their marksheets but I think if teachers enter marks that turn red, they rethink and you end up w worse accuracy. 4/ Most importantly: have a clear plan for your marksheets before you build them-it's so much easier to get them right first time then to go back makibg tweaks. Good luck with the project! 1
PhilNeal Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 For a primary use the PoS system that's built into SIMS. No set-up required. 1

MrMat Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 Sorry @PhilNeal.............PoS?? Program of Study I believe. 1
PhilNeal Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 Indeed yes Programme of Study. The life without levels approach is generally resulting in schools recording progress against each strand in the National Curriculum. We now supply these as standard within SIMS so there's very little to set up and the built in reports are available too. 1
Beduffshirl Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 I'm chair of governors at a school and we would love to use POS but we need a much expanded grade set and this won't be in until 2017 at the earliest which means in all likelihood waiting until at least September 17. We need to be able to show and measure small steps of progress within a statement
