edutech4schools Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 Hi, Just managed to get a couple of free monitors to go with the good monitor i already have. The free ones only have a vga in. This is an image of the back of my video card - https://www.overclockers.co.uk/media/image/thumbnail/GX147GI_97698_800x800.jpg My main monitor is plugged in to the top right white connector. Which connectors should I use on the card for my other 2 vga monitors? I take it I will need some type of vga cable converts. Thanks
Guest obsidianpillar Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 Hi, You'd need to obtain an "HDMI to VGA" adapter, as your going from a digital signal (HDMI) back to analogue (VGA). Quick Google Search came up with this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Converter-Adapter-Desktops-Power-Free-Raspberry/dp/B009CRN810 Hope this helps. Best, Tom
TwistedHelixis Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 Are those HDMI on the back? They look slightly different.

Guest obsidianpillar Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 Hi, your right. I only glanced at the picture briefly. As it's a GTX 970, that would appear to be right.
LincolnE Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 I'd personally get two DVI-VGA adapters for the normal VGA monitors and then a HDMI/Display Port to DVI adapter for your current monitor. At least that way you can retain one Digital rather than all analogue displays. 1
Arthur Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 I'd personally get two DVI-VGA adapters for the normal VGA monitors The top DVI port in the photo above looks like it is digital only (DVI-D). 1
dry Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 The top DVI port in the photo above looks like it is digital only (DVI-D). @Arthur's got it. Top DVI is digital only (notice the absence of 4 pins around the flat pin). Bottom DVI is analogue too, so you could use a DVI-VGA cable on that. That'd leave you with 1 HDMI-VGA converter left to buy. 1
MrKJLS Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 You could use a display port to VGA adapter Link: Hotsale DisplayPort DP Male to VGA Female Adapter Display Port Converter Cable | eBay 1
TwistedHelixis Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 Going to grab 2 display port to VGA adapters. Thanks
LincolnE Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 Heh, you're right. Shows me to not give something a quick glance, wouldn't have thought of that in the slightest
