DalekSec Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 (Please move if in wrong area) Our Swimming Pool from September is going to be open for general use and our Bursar and swimming pool manager want an card reader for people to check in and out so we have an electronic copy of it. Does anyone else have this in place? Or now any system that is good for this? Not sure if I could get away with a pc with a USB nfc card reader on or a raspberry pi. Need to do some research. Are you intending to restrict access (i.e. gate remains locked unless card swiped) or just log access (swimming pool open, please remember to swipe card on entry and exit). Latter would probably be simpler to implement but former ensures only those who are approved are granted access. You'd have to worry about maglocks, failsafes, training, people holding doors open for others, etc etc with the former too.

Most have integrations for this type of thing We don't have any membership management system. My current idea is a PC/Raspberry pi with a NFC card reader attached, people come in swipe the card and the PC/Pi recognises the NFC ID from a pre-populated table and in another table puts them in a check in / out spreadsheet, Something along those lines anyway!
