mullet_man Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 supposedly, the last day to get Windows 10 upgrade for free is July 31st. I've deployed it on all my computers at work and glad I did. Makes my job as an Admin much easier. In what ways?
mullet_man Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 Do you know the rough date of the release? 2nd of August. Think of my plan will be to get other jobs ticked off first then build a new image and deploy that later in the holidays.
MrFrostmaul Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 2nd of August. Think of my plan will be to get other jobs ticked off first then build a new image and deploy that later in the holidays. Thanks, yeah same as us to give more time to play around with it all as we haven't attempted Windows 10 at all here yet, but want to start soon with it.
KibosJ Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 You've tested with Office 2016? Sorry, I missed this. I've run the system requirements test, I haven't yet run a full test using Office 2016, but this bit works and opens the applications up fine. This is using Windows 10 Education with Office 2016 (64 Bit)
sparkeh Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 I've put deployment on hold now until after the anniversary update. The technical previews use a .v6 profile suggesting that the update is kinda like a new OS? Does anyone know if we will need a new ADK and whatnot?

FN-GM Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 It says OK so am guessing it's now working with Office 2016. Thanks Not as such, when you start the ECDL program in the browser, there is no option for Office 2016.

Arthur Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 Does anyone know if we will need a new ADK and whatnot? Almost certainly. The updated ADK will also include the new App-V Sequencer and UE-V Template Generator now that App-V and UE-V are built into Windows. 1
Blue_Cookeh Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 Windows 10 Anniversary Edition will update roaming profiles to a .v6 extension, confirmed by MS. Joy of joys.
Michael Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 Makes you wonder what exactly are the differences between v5 and v6 - lets just hope that doesn't mean they'll be absolutely massive!
garethEds Posted July 14, 2016 Author Posted July 14, 2016 Makes you wonder what exactly are the differences between v5 and v6 - lets just hope that doesn't mean they'll be absolutely massive! Any links on how to create roaming profiles for Windows 10?
Michael Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 Create a Profile$ share, then specify the path in AD for that user - \\Servername\Profiles$\username (don't add .v5 or .v6), leave the extension blank. If you mean a mandatory profile, you need to copy the default profile first (within Windows 10) to the Profiles$ share.

If you mean a mandatory profile, you need to copy the default profile first (within Windows 10) to the Profiles$ share. You need to do a lot more than that. You need to copy it twice, change one to .MAN, log in with the .DAT, modify the profile as necessary, export the keys from the .DAT, import them into the .MAN. If you actually log in with the .MAN profile, it breaks the start menu. Huge ballache.
mullet_man Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 Any news on the confirmation from BCS yet @FN-GM?
FN-GM Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 Any news on the confirmation from BCS yet @FN-GM? Nope. Being a pain in the rear as usual. They shouldn't be allowed to call themselves the British Computer Society.
mullet_man Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 Thanks. Can't see them not getting it sorted before Sept.
