Would like to be able to have a better idea of how much usage our laptops are getting and, as I'm far too lazy to write a script without it being absolutely necessary, the above product seemed a great idea as a) it was free, b) don't need >100 devices and c) might have other uses later. Unfortunately I can't see any of my clients. I suspect that it's a port being blocked by the LEA (who charge a ridiculous fee to unblock) but would like to check I've set it all up properly.

I've installed the client on various machines and then signed into the cloud console. Do I need to do anything more to see the clients?

No, just install the client here are the ports that need unblocking, you can download them from the help area when you're signed in to Meraki

Thanks; had looked at the list already. The ports aren't blocked locally, so must be the LEA firewall which they wanted money to alter. If it was something more than an experiment it might be worth it, but it looks like it'll have to be scripts :(.

@LeMarchand Which LEA charges for Firewall changes, that's crazy! considering you probably pay for support anyway!

Yep. We can get sites unblocked with notice and within reason (they won't unblock pr0n sites etc obviously!) but port changes are chargeable. We can't 9for instance) use our copier's "phone home for supplies" facility without paying a ridiculous amount for a few minute's work.

How utterly ridiculous. I'd be looking at moving that ASAP and changing my broadband/filtering supplier.

Alas that's not my call and if I could wield that sort of influence there are other things I'd be pushing for first!

I Understand. We now have a good relationship with the LA broadband people (as a 3rd party) and a lot of changes we ask for are done. But the difference where we can make the changes ourself - normally with onsite hardware is huge. It really benefits the school with services etc they can use.
