Which access point am i connected to software

We have about 30 AP's in our workplace and are having an issue with a couple. Does anyone know of any software that will tell me which one the laptop is connected to? We think two of them keep picking up and dropping the laptops in the area and thus causing them to lose network connection.

http://www.netstumbler.com will tell you the AP the laptop is attached to. If they all have the same SSID you will need to identify the MAC address of the WAP.

What is the make/manufacturer? Most will usually have utilities that will enable you to interrogate your WAPS.

 

If not, then NetStumbler is the prog to go for.

Our DD-WRT APs report that data and signal strength back to "RFlow Collector", but I'm not aware of any generic software assuming you have multiple APs using the same SSID.

 

You may be able to get a list of connected devices from the web interface of the AP. It's clunky, but might be worth a go.

Now i thought Netstumbler too, but for some reason i didnt think it told me which one i was connected to. I shall download and try it again. Thanks guys!

Well it looks to have come good. Is it skipping straight past the one with the strongest signal and settling on another with half the strength. Time to check the channels me thinks.
