Hi Guys,

Has anybody ever used Microsoft's vhdx convert to make a physical sims server virtual? If so any issues i should be made aware of?

Thinking of going virtual in the future and would be great if i could just down, convert and boot to vm.

Thanks again

Used it on a member server before minus the sims worked perfectly. It seemed a little to easy which worried me a little. I'd take sims offline before migrating other than that can see any reason why not.

Did this last year to a 2012r2 / SQL 2014 SIMS server with Disk2VHD.

Just stop the sims / SQL services first!

Been working great since!

Great thanks, do you stop the services from "services" or sql manager?

Also what spec is your sims VM?

thanks again

I stopped them all in services both for SQL and sims.

The VM is:

4 VCPU

8 GB Ram

We don't use discover or anything exotic just plain SIMS and SOLUS 3 on the box.
