Hi

Does anyone use, or know of any software for sending desktop popup message alerts to end users, and costs?

In event of email or internet down, unable to send a message to all users, and even if a service is down, end users don't check their emails before sending me one to say for example the internet is down.

Any ideas or useful information would be appreciated.

only be used for computers on internal LAN and send message to all logged on users.

thanks.

A quick way would be to set a startup page for your browsers to a status page on a server internally and you can just add a message there.
That would be good if you could automate it by having it ping servers to see if the connection is there and have a simple tick or cross next to the service to show whether its running or not.

I did find one a few years ago which looked really good but I can't for the life of me remember the name. It was a little utility that ran on the PC which allowed you to instantly message people or stick alerts on. it was an American product and we shunned it as it was £1000s

Hi ITGURU,

As you have asked for information on this, and as we are the forum sponsors, i thought you may be interested in our desktop alerting solution NetSupport Notify, as it does exactly what you are looking for ( i think :) )

You can find out more and download a free trial from www.netsupportnotify.com

It lets you send alerts, track receipts, customize your branding, display as a desktop pop up or full screen on interactive screens and much more. You can also send from iOS and Android. It was originally developed for school security warnings in the US.

It is nice and low cost, i.e £250 for a £250 PC licence ( one time cost), £400 for a 500 PC licence etc.

Hope that helps

Al.
