User Profile Failed The Logon?

Hi,

 

We seem to be getting an issue that is occurring a lot recently. We students that get the error message 'User Profile Failed The Logon' on certain computers.

 

We're running Windows 7 on a RM Network. We have tried many things that RM have recommended to us such as Resetting the students profile, Deleting them from the user folder, changing the registry settings, but nothing seems to work.

 

Does anyone have any solutions that sorted this error for them.

This is a Very Strange one, if it was just on one PC then you could do a station re-build.

Can you ping your server from the PC as it could be a switch and only effecting the PC's on that switch?

Are you on CC4.2 or 4.3?

In the registry, do you have SIDs hiding in the profile list that are pointing to directories in C:\Users that no longer exist?

We are currently running CC4.5. I can successfully ping the server on the effected machine. We have already tried to rebuilding a couple of machines with this issue and it still does not work.

seems more like a timeout issue, I have seen this when we have a lot of users trying to log on at the same time through one access point.

We have 3 ICT rooms with 30 computers in each that are linked up to one switch. Your answer makes sense as we only have this issue in them 3 rooms.

We get this occasionally, normally it's a corrupt default profile. Just replace it with a copy from a working machine.

In C:\Users there is a hidden profile called Default. This is a template that get used when a new user logs on. If this gets corrupted you will receive the log on error you are getting. Simply grab a copy off another machine, put it on a memory stick/network share, then just use it to overwrite the bad one on the effected machine. Edited May 18, 2016 by lostsoul

I've seen this on various networks I support.

This fix is quick to apply if you have the problem of temporary Internet files permissions described below. Sometimes copying the default profile is the necessary.

I find the offending folder on the c $ share and set permissions via the network.

Would be nice if Microsoft could fix this properly as it happens enough to be annoying.

Can you move one machine to a separate switch and see if the problem goes away.

 

also try resetting the switches and look for loops

As someone said above, it's in the registry.

Just follow Method 3: Delete the error SID and create a new profile - fix it myself:
