I have started a new Impero thread because this only started happening with this version of Impero.

Windows computers seem fine. However, Chromebooks have all requested pages blocked as p0rn. This only happens after the Chromebooks have been updated. Before this, they were working fine. No changes have been made in the console that would have this effect.

I have raised a ticket on the Impero Knowledge Base.

Afternoon Dave

Can I ask if you have installed the new Chrome extension?

I believe I have and removed the old one. Can I check where on the Google Admin Console I should be adding the extensions? Is it possible to add them in the wrong place?

Hello Dave

Sorry for my late response. I have just updated your cases with several step by step screenshots on how to check and how to add in the new extension code URL and ID.

Sorry to hijack the thread. @Gez_Impero how do you register to have the latest version as we are on 5.2.10 and are waiting for 5.3 to fix some issues with logging in a whole room and logs etc

Thanks

Issues so far with 5.3.21 (after one day?)

Impero icon appearing on taskbar for everyone to see and mess about with even though it is disabled.

5, 6 or 7 impero icons appearing on taskbar at the same time.

"Join Pin Group"" popping up on staff desktops even though it is disabled. (phone was on fire yesterday, staff thought it was spyware!!)

Schedule to turn off PC's every evening not working now.

Bare in mind all the above were working fine until this update, and we haven't changed any policies that could cause the above.

Hello @keithwoods

I'm sorry that you are experiencing these issues.

Please can you PM me your school name so that I can arrange for a member of the support team to look into these with you?

I believe we have seen these issues occur in previous issues so we should have a fix for this.

Kind regards,

Gez

I also have an issue with Version 5.3.21

We have an issue with out user groups within the new version 5.3.21. We have a All Staff and All Students user groups but this seems only to be working for some users.

I have noticed that the users that it is working for if you check their properties the active directory groups show a correct list and contains the result GET_AD_GROUPS_OK

but the users that are not showing within the user group it just shows GET_AD_GROUPS_FAILED within the properties.

I have restarted workstations and server and still have the same issues, have logged a support case

just thought i would see if anyone else having this issue.

Cheers

Seem to have connection issues again, consoles not connecting, saying the Impero Server is unreachable.

I hope they get this fixed soon, or I may be looking at asking for a full refund on our services and look at an alternative product.

...Join Pin Group pop up...

There are two steps to switching off the PIN group feature - one must be completed on the server console and one on the user console.

User Console:

1. Right click the 'entire network' group and select properties.

2. Click on the 'Group Settings' tab.

3. Click on to 'Workstation Settings'.

4. Place a tick in to 'Hide Pin group join button'. Click OK to save this.

Server Console:

1. Click on the 'Settings' tab and then 'Console Access Rights' tab under this.

2. Under the access rights list, select each user and scroll to the bottom of the access options to the right.

3. Select 'No access to Pin groups' under the 'Pin Group' settings.

Good afternoon Edugeekers,

Thank you for your feedback, we've got a specific task force ready to look at any 5.3 issues which may arise. We have upgraded over 400 customers to version 5.3 and the vast majority of our customers everything is running smoothly. I apreciate that you guys posting have had some issues and can see the tickets you've logged. These tickets are being prioritised appropriately and we'll get back to you regarding your individual cases.

Kindest regards

* Copy/paste not functional (has always been intermittent anyway)

* Ctrl+Alt+Del not always functional (again, intermittent anyway)

* 'Take Control' does not always actually take control, i.e. the local keyboard/mouse are sometimes still usable

Also we have noticed a few other issues in testing today:

1 User Groups not taking effect with the GET_AD_GROUPS_FAILED error

2 Wake on lan only waking 50% of computers and was working fine before the update.

3 Impero Server is unreachable on most computers?? some work some don't.. all direct to server IP with serverIP.txt (admins fine)

All after upgrade to 5.3.21

Apparently get_ad_groups_failed is a known issue there is a patch being worked on hopefully for release in the next couple of days.

@Mic_Impero @Gez_Impero @ImperoMatt

Getting increasingly bored of coming in everyday to find Impero not even working.

Nothing is hitting the Impero Server, restarted the server, the services, the clients etc etc etc

'Unable to contact Impero Server'

Would appreciate help ASAP. Currently don't see a reason to renew our contract when it doesn't even work?

Also getting increasingly bored of being told by the Impero support number to 'leave a message'...

After a few days of fairly reliable performance on the classroom management side of things I am now seeing:

Just when I need Impero the most.

I'm about to call them again, getting this all the time now.

Weirdly, I'm not sure if this is an Impero issue or not, when my machine goes to sleep and I wake it back up Impero doesn't work, however some of the tabs I have open in Chrome also tell me there is no internet connection, but refresh as soon as I click on the tab.

I think this could be a Windows Update problem, because this never used to happen at all.

WORKAROUND/FIX FOR 'UNABLE TO CONTACT THE IMPERO SERVER' ERROR

Uninstall the Windows Server 2008R2 KB3156417 Update. Voilà.

Not ideal, but if you need Impero then that'll do it.
