I highly doubt this is possible, is there a way we can run a report on if and when a teacher has or hasn't completed the register. I'm guessing this sort of thing isn't logged within SIMS at all.

Were having issues where it's not been completed, so a reminder is sent. But then the teacher complaining that they had completed it. (More than likely they'd filled it in and not clicked save)

Also, anybody else got ways of reminding staff to complete the register (the sims inbuilt messages don't seem to be good enough). SLT are thinking of giving office staff Impero so they can post full screen reminders and lock all applications except SIMS until it's completed.

Cheers

If you have the right permissions (attendance manager, maybe), you can get a box on the Sims Home Page that show them. The Missing Registers Notification panel.

We send SIMS messages that are quite blunt asking them to complete it. If it get's too much of an issue, we have a quiet word with the staff. #ScaryAdminMatriarch.

Impero and locking the apps seems like overkill to me. Set a scheduled task on the machines that displays a fullscreen reminder in HTML form or similar. All staff will get it but it's got to be better than locking the staff out of their machines. Once they see the message enough times they will start to save/complete it without prompting.

We've got a humongous problem with getting registers completed in lessons, however technical solutions like blocking access just get in the way of the even more important stuff like teaching.

It's fundamentally an accountablility and leadership issue.

The long term fix which worked very well in my last school is to do all the chasing up on the day, and then compile a weekly list and have the SLT responsible for attendance have a word with them. I went from pages of classes not completed to 1 or 2 a day. This then makes walking up to the lesson and staring at the teacher meaningfully a much more manageable task.

It's gotta be an expectation that it's done.

Yup completely agree @bobsmith - I've tried to say that but SLT want a technical way of forcing them, or having proof with the reports to show when they saved the register. So having a look into it, but personally the way you've described seems the most sensible route, but they don't want that route.... ahh well!

Thanks, will try do something in Impero, see if that helps. But ultimately it just needs SLT managing manually rather than convoluted methods like this.

Cheers all though :)

We have this issue too, I agree with bobsmith that the only way to tackle it is to chase up on the day. I will go to a class to remind the teacher (they don't like the interuption) and i will send a reminded on SIMS and also print the list of missing registers, paste it into an email and email everyone with an outstanding register. I am then supposed to forward missing registers to SLT if they still aren't done but it usually doesn't get that far. I send the reminders out 10 mins after the start of the lesson.

Turn on the annoying beep on sims and send a message from the missing registers notification panel (it's on the drop down menu in the corner of the notification box). This will need combining with heavy application of the SLT stick - use words like safeguarding to get some action. :)

Ours improved when we started using Schoolcomms. Parents started calling in because they were receiving texts telling that their kids weren't in school. That helped focus the mind :D
