It's getting annoying because teachers use websites for the kids lessons like teach-ict.co.uk, youtube etc. and it doesn't work. SO the new flash came out and I thought it would fix the problems but it is exactly the same. I used the RM blueprint package thingy and everything!!! Has anyone got this problem and do you know of any software conflicts? By the way, I took flash off the machines before installing the new one. It's rubbish!

PEO Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 I once found that the cachepilot here was blocking flash content websites. I never got tho the bottom of that one. do you not neet to remove the old flash first then install the new one? Im guessing you used the msi file?

Wondering if it anything to do with Macromedia Studio 8... I started getting this on PC's with Adobe Master Collection CS3. I don't use RM though, I'm using the MSI's I obtained straight from the horses mouth (Macromedia). On the PC's it does happen on, Flash ends up appearing in A/RP 2 or 3 times... which is totally wierd - but I just ignore it at the moment. I've classed it as "non-critical" and it fixes itself too after a while...

I've got two Flash player packages to install on my system: install_flash_player_active_x.msi install_flash_player_plugin.msi I assume one is for Mozilla/Firefox, one is for Internet Explorer. -- David Hicks
ricki Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Hi I had a major problem with flash once I had with drawn the old msi and deployed the new one. For some reason it busted every flash install in the school. I withdrew the new msi and deployed the old one but still no luck. We ended up having to visit every pc in the school oh what fun. Richard

There's a patch included in one of the SPs that actually prevents removal or upgrading of any flash player components. My guess is that you have that deployed to main site. RM told me it applies a registry lock. Well I never did find out what that meant but removing the patch didn't do the trick by itself - you have to remove it and rebuild the machine, only then will flash install okay. I verified that by rebuilding a machine without removing the patch, no flash. The patch in question is KB913433, I think.

contink Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 Just remembered something else I came across recently too. If you have a bum sound card driver you'll find flash sort of works and then stops being able to interact on things like layers, etc... weird but true.

Joanne Posted February 6, 2008 Author Posted February 6, 2008 Just get it from adobe.com bizzel - try the adobe msi for flash. We found the error from installing/uninstalling was because of older flash versions on the machine!

mortstar Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 I had problems with installing new versions of flash, even though it looked like they had installed. There is a tool on the adobe site that completely removes flash player, which I run on a fresh install of XP before installing the latest version.
