DJ-1701 Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 As some of you are aware there has been talk of a PS4.5 model. For those not in the know some information can be found here. PS4.5 could arrive after E3, before the holidays | TechRadar Out of interest, in a scenario of considering to buy a PlayStation, would you just purchase a PS4, or would you be waiting for the PS4.5 release?
3s-gtech Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 I wonder if the 4.5 will just be the 4 with the VR processor/co-processor/add-on box integrated. Would be the best scenario - would allow existing users to buy the 'full' PSVR while new owners could buy a cheaper version without the add-on box. Makes more sense to me.
Arthur Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 It would be nice if the 4.5 had HDMI 2.0 and played UltraHD Blu-ray's. Being a PC gamer it might actually tempt me to buy a console.
Grey-gear Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 It may be best to wait at least until there is more information on the 4.5 and then see if the features are what you want.

GuyJD Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 I'd imagine there would be a small price drop of the PS4 come the release of the 4.5 so I'd wait.
DJ-1701 Posted June 10, 2016 Author Posted June 10, 2016 It seems the PS4.5 now has a code name of PlayStation 4 Neo. Sony confirms the PlayStation 4 Neo is real | Games | Geek.com
Arthur Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 It seems the PS4.5 now has a code name of PlayStation 4 Neo. It also had the same codename back in April (although admittedly it was just a rumour at that point).
DJ-1701 Posted June 10, 2016 Author Posted June 10, 2016 It also had the same codename back in April (although admittedly it was just a rumour at that point). Ah, didn't know that. @Arthur, as always, I bow to your greater knowledge.
Arthur Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 Do you think you will still get a PS4.5 despite there not being a release date?
DJ-1701 Posted June 10, 2016 Author Posted June 10, 2016 Do you think you will still get a PS4.5 despite there not being a release date? I think I will wait until the release of the PS4.5, just hope it isn't too much of a wait. Hopefully the PS4 prices would reduce a bit by that time as well... then make my mind up... though most likely get a PS4.5. Still... saying that... I am tempted already by games on the PS4...
Arthur Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 (edited) just hope it isn't too much of a wait. The PlayStation 4 Professional is being released on 10 November 2016 for £349. Surely Sony could have come up with a better name? Edited September 7, 2016 by Arthur
DJ-1701 Posted September 7, 2016 Author Posted September 7, 2016 Surely Sony could have come up with a better name? I know right. I guess it gets the point across that it's more for the high end user. Doesn't look like there is any price change for the PS4 with the Slim being £259 RRP. Not sure how much impact the Pro would have on the VR front. Interested in VR, but an extra £90 on a punt of being a noticeable difference from PS4?... If I decide to try VR... I assume Sony aren't bundling a VR kit with the Pro... I think the standard PS4 or PS4 Slim will be the way I go now after that.
ZeroHour Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 I am surprised they didn't add ultra bluray support like the Xbox slim.
