Apologies if this is in the place!

I am trying to push out some proxy settings to iPads via a pac file on our network. The issue I'm facing specifically relates to iPads in that they appear not to be reading the proxy details from the file. The proxy URL is configured on the iPads wifi settings (automatic) and in the form of http://servername/ipads/proxy.pac. I've also tried using the IP address in place of the server name.

I've accessed the proxy.pac file through safari (using the URL) and I can can see the contents of it, however, the proxy settings are just not applying or the iPads simply aren't downloading the config, despite being set to use these details.

The pac file does work as I've tested the same URL on a windows machine which runs without issues.

I wondered if there is something that I am missing for ios and osx machines?

Any help would be great.

I remember I had to make a seporate pac file for the iDevices at the Primary school as they didn't seem to want to listen to the Windows one I created, could be a simular issue. In the end I created one in this format which appeared to work for me.

function FindProxyForURL(url, host)
{
   if (isPlainHostName(host))
   {
       return "DIRECT";
   }
   else if (shExpMatch(host,"*.schoolname.countycouncil.sch.uk"))
   {
       return "DIRECT";
   }
   else if (shExpMatch(host,"10.1.1.*"))
   {
       return "DIRECT";
   }
   else if (shExpMatch(host,"10.1.2.*"))
   {
       return "DIRECT";
   }
   else
   {
       return "PROXY proxy.server.address.uk:8080";
   }
}
