I'm amazed how people can still fall for this kind of stuff! I don't understand why people feel the need to share everything and anything, click on ALL DA LINKS #DownWidDaKids, play a new "Video Game" on FaceBook and share their points with their friends or worse invite their friends to play. I wish someone would create a social network that's like FaceBook but has nothing more than letting you share things with your friends integrating embedded flash games, millions of links that confuse users and all the rest of FaceBook's carp I'm amazed how they've kept it going for so long!! I'm hoping it will end up like Bebo did and someone actually brings out a half decent social networking platform.

 

I tend to de-friend anyone who does this sort of stuff because I just can't be bothered with all the notifications and rubbish from them. Unfortunately I can't de-friend the worst culprit.... My nana!

I get that. Thing is someone such as my nan 3 years ago started sharing and clicking on these kind of things and yet still does the same thing to this date. It's all well and good saying it's because they're not IT literate as we are but what I can't wrap my head around is the common sense aspect i.e. you've clicked on a link it's given you a stressful virus but then for some reason after getting it fixed they feel the need to click on a link that looks the same. Why can't people learn from their mistakes!?

 

The internet, IT and social networks have been around for so long now that very rarely I think people are able to use that as an excuse.

That's the thing isn't it, the worst offenders are either not very tech savy, very trusting, don't think, don't care or a combination. Technology is trusted too much to just handle things, without the forethought of, should I trust this technology? All we can do is hope others will learn, try to educate and help out people, but it would be nice if the companies did focus more on protection and privacy of their users as well. I put the article on facebook and have investigated the privacy setting of my friend's friends who have gone on to share it. ... Interesting! Somehow, I can't see these people acting on what they have read

Because things are not peoples own fault and as such do not learn. They will do the same over again.

This was the point I was trying to make 99% of the time (exaggerated percentage) it's because they can't be beavered to learn and thus is their own fault. You can only play dumb for so long and then you start to become dumb.

I love the scams on facebook the click bait sharing of "Dwarf amputee shags horse" really gives an insight into the people I know. It's an aid for whom to avoid in the real world.
