yes in fact in leices you can be sacked for it...

mis use of company propertie...

I think it would be frowned upon anywhere and in industry it definatley WOULD NOT be tolerated. You can't ask to be taken seriously as a proffesional and then go taking the mick like that.

Occasionally using Ebay to buy items or doing a bit of online shopping can be tolerated, as long as it does not interfere with your work, but running an online shop... :?

As far as I'm concerned, Ebay is off-limits to all staff here regardless of Teacher or Admin staff. The only people who I think would kick off about it are people who annoy the hell out of me anyway so I'm not really bothered, but if anyone does have a problem I've found the clause in our Council AUP (which also applies to us) which says no personal financial transactions.

Either way, I would block completely simply for equality. You can't be seen to allow for one group of staff and not for another even if on the basis of working/not working with kids. Teachers won't see it that way & then they'll be even grumpier (if that's possible!).

that last email was not very clear note to self make sure you wake up before posting..

i mean you can get sacked for doing any kind of thing at work for a personnel business from using internet to using phone, to getting work...

ebay issue well we allow it for staff and the design department used it last term to sell some old stuff...

We have rule that at break and much if you want to use net then fine but using it while meant to be working is a no no..

but then we give a certain lee-way checking of email in a admin period fine but going on dating site is not..

I've been in this post about 3 or 4 months now and will be forcing through an AUP at the start of term - although it will probably need to go through the governors first :(

I will be using the EduGeek AUPs (partly because I wrote the kids' one in the first place ;) )

What if they refused to agree to it? lol How can we deny them use of IT resources?

Seem to remember saying already - but County have said that it's enough to have this detailed in the staff handbook/on the intranet. As our CC Nath have it up already, the county lawyers say that's enough already to enforce it.

Personally I have the 'click to accept' message with the brief outline on every machine. So staff have to accept to logon. It's not possible to use the machine without accepting - even as administrator.

So you don't really have to do anything with staff, but they should be aware somehow, and you're only helping them realise this with anything you implement.

Here are our AUP and AUP agreement statement. It is the same for staff and students and if we do not have a signed form back the user does not get access to the facilities .... on the same grounds that if a student does not come in in school uniform they are not allowed in lessons, and if the staff do not follow school procedures they get warnings, etc ...

I have bee looking through the National Agreement and Workforce Remodelling stuff over the last few days and it all seems so bland, and constantly passes the buck.

Basically, it seems to be up to the school or their controlling body (LEA, governors, trustees, etc) to form a policy and publish it. Follow the guidelines from http://safety.ngfl.gov.uk and apply them to whoever you feel it is most appropriate to ....

So ... we just apply the same to everyone.

We'll just have to see how it goes over the next month or so.

Agree with you on the workforce agreement comment GD. I think the intention of the Heads is to just slot everyone into the new stucture exactly where they are now. Despite all the masses of work heading towards the admin section no account is being taken of the extra workload. The same applies for us.

Thankfully we did take into account the extra admin work going to associate staff ... and have been employing accordingly.

We have extra office staff, more LSAs, HLTAs, a goodly number of support staff ... but now the governors are raising their eyebrows at the cost.

And then TLRs are coming in too ... and whilst this is an extension of WR and NA, there will still be more changes as jobs get moved around ... and more schools are wondering about the amount of paperwork that has to be done.

So now we have the case of teachers, having been told for the last few years that they shouldn't be the people looking after and running the computer systems, will no longer get paid for it and will have to stop.

SNAFU!
