TwistedHelixis Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 Hello all, A few weeks ago I setup a remote desktop gateway on server 2012r2 and I was sure I had 'Connect to a remote computer' listed above the remote apps in the RDweb page, but it is not there now. Am I going mad? Should it be there? and if so, how do I get it back? BTW very new to remote access
Areku Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 did you publish any apps? Publishing apps on the same "collection" will remove the remote desktop.
TwistedHelixis Posted March 1, 2016 Author Posted March 1, 2016 Oh OK. Do you know if Sims and FMS play nice as a remote app, or is it better to use remote desktop?
carnforthhigh Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 We have just set this up. SIMS works fine, we had to publish pulsar instead of simsload to get it to work. Not tried FMS.
carnforthhigh Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 We found these guides handy for customisation too. https://msfreaks.wordpress.com/2013/12/29/step-by-step-customizing-rd-web-access-2012-r2/ https://msfreaks.wordpress.com/2014/01/02/step-by-step-customizing-rd-web-access-2012-r2-part-2/ https://msfreaks.wordpress.com/2014/01/30/step-by-step-customizing-rd-web-access-2012-r2-part-3/
localzuk Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 Oh OK. Do you know if Sims and FMS play nice as a remote app, or is it better to use remote desktop? We've had SIMS and FMS published via RemoteApp for a couple of years now, never had an issue.
theeggmaster Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 We have also had SIMS and FMS published as RemoteApps for a couple of years. Both work fine.
SHimmer45 Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 Also working on RDWEB access to replace ranger outpost for file access. Adding a explorer link to open a file share which is fine but it also shows all the other gubbins for the local drives of the RDP server which i dont want them to see The question is does GPO for the user limit what they see in the launched explorer window like it would on a normal workstation

carnforthhigh Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 Yes, GPO works the same. Our users only see the network drives they have access to and no local drives of the server.
SHimmer45 Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 ok will give it another go, i assume its the same for any logon scripts running / connect to options in the users profile. ideally attempting to achieve a single page where they can launch a few required apps and have access to work areas. thinking RDWEB would be a better option then a full blown RDP desktop etc
