unixman_again Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 The Advertising Standards Agency have published a list of the most complained about ads and it was all about themes and issues that people found offensive. https://www.asa.org.uk/News-resources/Media-Centre/2016/2015-most-complained-about-ads.aspx#.VtAWhlEYJws
pooley Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 People who have time to complain about adverts need to; a) get a life b) get a life or c) get a sky type setup where they can fast forward past the adverts!
Arreks Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Lol'd at numero uno. I bet if it was a female dancing like that it wouldn't have got half as many complaints as it did.
Duranis Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 I feel slightly stupid that I never once picked up that "booking" in the booking.com adverts was used as a replacement for a swear word...
CAM Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 The fact only one of the complaints were upheld shows how society has turned into a hive of pathetic whingers looking to raise a storm about anything. At least one of those complaints was a targeted attack by social media cabals.

At least one of those complaints was a targeted attack by social media cabals. I wouldn't suggest that a mere 4,193 complaints about the ads which were not upheld means that society has gone down the pan. those stats are for a whole year and translate into just 11.5 moans per day. a couple of people with an axe to grind and nothing to do could amass that many complaints no problem. At worst there are 4,000 or so miserable people in the UK (who would've guessed?) and at best only a handful of people made all these complaints.

I disagree. Well, I don't entirely agree anyway. I remember an AA advert from years back. The scene was that a woman's car had broken down in the entrance to a barriered car park and the attendant was shouting a load of sexist abuse at her (along the lines of "Can't you drive your husband's car? Put the clutch down, move the gearstick and back it up"). It was a horrible advert and it got banned because of a barrage of complaints.
