Disease Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 I installed windows 10 templates into our PolicyDefinitions central folder, now all I get is errors when opening the policy part of any group policy. I imported them when I added my first 2012 R2 domain controller but I still had a 2008 R2 DC as well. Group Policy seems to be working but it's a pain to edit any policies now as it is not showing any settings. Any idea on how to repair this, I have tried restoring individual gpos from a backup but it still throws the same errors. Thanks in advance.
Disease Posted February 22, 2016 Author Posted February 22, 2016 I seem to have fixed it, I deleted the contents of my central Policy Definitions folder and then copied the contents from c:\windows\PolicyDefinitions back into the empty folder and I can now read the GPO settings. 1
3s-gtech Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 By doing that, you will have lost any updated ADMX files that you may have installed, including Office etc. It's worth downloading the newest Windows 10 and relevant Office ADMXs and installing them back in with their accompanying ADML. You may get some errors due to duplicate/conflicting policies - you just delete out the older of the two conflicting files. 1
KK20 Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 (edited) this error is usually brought about when you copy the .admx into the policydefinitions but forget to copy the .adml into the en-us folder. Obviously copying the WHOLE policydefinitions will also copy the en-us folder (so will "fix" the error). It shouldn't matter what DCs you have as they will run to whatever level you set your domain at. Since you are dealing with the SYSVOL folder then the DCs will replicate changes as necessary between them. Edited February 22, 2016 by KK20 1
Michael Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 I agree, it does sound like a lack of language folder, hence why nothing is visible/displayed.
