Projector turning off my monitor

I have replaced an Epson EB-84He projector with a new Epson EB-x27, and now everytime I turn the projector off it sub-sequentially turns my monitor screen off.

 

The rig is as follows

 

DVI out of PC > Computer into Computer 1 VGA on projector > VGA Monitor Out of projector > VGA in on Monitor

 

Does anyone know how to change the settings so it doesn't turn my monitor off when the projector is turned off? It worked like this before with the old projector.

Hi @jordanfearnley

 

I would suggest putting a vga splitter at the computer end and splitting it before it goes to the projector. Most likely the projector needs to be turned on for the vga out to work.

We've got the same issue with an Epson EB-520 and as @VeryPC_Anthony_L pointed out, we had to use a VGA splitter.

Depending on the Epson model you may have to go into settings and turn on communication and fiddle with one of the power settings to get it to stay on separately, we have this issue with the newer projectors from Epson, I'm not in work at the moment to check one of our epsons for this setting, we set the majority of ours up as plugged through if we can.

 

We run with epsons and I have seen this on the ebx27 models that I'm aware of

Not sure about Epson but the Benq projectors have a monitor out standby setting. You have to change this for it to work. By default it turns off the monitor.

Thank you for the replies. I'd now like to add that this is in a school, I have installed 3 of these projectors with the same issue. I have many more to fit, and I don't really want to buy any new components (VGA splitters) because all the projectors are set up as described above, with a Monitor Out. Knowing how to change the power settings on the projector with a few clicks of the remote would be much more ideal than redirecting the cabling. I have tried as much as I can with the settings, but can't seem to get them right; if someone could let me know it would make my job here a lot easier!

I would really appreciate if you could check your power settings when you can, to see how I can get the Monitor Out signal to run while the projector is off. Thank you.

Read page 118 this I believe looks what you need to do. You may need to read a few pages back as well

Thanks for that, I've solved the problem from reading the manual! (shock!)

 

I tried the Communication On setting before, but now I know that the AV Output needs to be Always On too. For anyone in the future that that has this issue, here is how to resolve it.

 

Menu > Extended > AV Settings > AV Output > Always On

Menu > ECO > Standby Mode > Communication On

 

Both tasks require the projector to be turned off for the setting to take effect, then your Monitor Out should stay on.
