Hi....My first post!

 

If i was to move form an RM CC3 network to a vanilla....would i have to buy in new CALs for all my workstations or would the RM CC3 licences that were bought for each workstation count?

never used rm but would think your windows cals would be separate from the rm cc3 software that sits on top.

 

i guess you have a school agreement with Microsoft ?

Not 100% on this, but I would say you would need new CAL licences for your vanilla network. I don't think you would be able to reuse the RM ones once you move.

Well i am not too sure on the whole RM licence setup i just know that when purchasing a licence from RM it includes:

 

Pack of Community Connect 3 Curriculum Client Licences that license you to use:

- Community Connect 3 Software

- Microsoft Windows 2003 Server Software

- VCD ROM Advanced Multimedia software

- AEFDISK Station build utility

- RM Tutor 3

 

That would suggest that i am paying for the Windows CAL and some RM components.

 

So in theory i have already paid and have the Microsoft CAL needed for me to move from RM CC3 to a vanilla network without paying for new CALs.

 

Has anyone been through this before?? It would be good to hear from you.

Cals not an issue as you would have brought them as part of rm license pack?

 

Couple things missing of your list of what is in RM pack but that besides point.

 

You would need to I suspect buy the vcd licenes/tutor 3 again as licenses are exclusive cc3 only so that they can offer them are lot cheaper than original manufacturer.

 

But cals not problem there.

When I used to purchase RM systems the price included both Windows and RM CALs.. Check your original invoices/quotes - if you don't have paper copies the documentation will be on the RM site under your school's account

Sorry to put a different spin on the post, I'm a bit of a Windows freak, not touched RM CC3/4 etc.

 

How difficult is RM CC3 to manage, learn, and tinker with? Just out of interest guys.
