LHmmm, its fairly busy. Whats it like downstairs? I guess this this a screenshot of when your on the top floor? If you keep your signal strength higher than the rest of the others you should be ok on the other channels.

Channel 14 doesnt exist on home routers, well in 13 years ive never seen it - that will be because 14 is for the japanise market http://kernelmag.dailydot.com/features/report/8051/the-mystery-of-wifi-channel-14/ - never knew that ??.

Some devices wont let you use channel 13, just be carefull.

Neg 70 isn't brilliant... How far away is the AP and/or what sort of obstructions are between you and it? (Walls, floors?)

I have a rule that that if signal db drops less than -70db then another AP is needed :).

So as an update I finally got my extra AP and installed it, it's all working fine but still having the same problems and symptoms. It's really weird I have found that the 5Ghz is a lot more stable and better but the 2.4ghz is horrendous, when I try to connect my mums computer to the 2.4Ghz it will connect but won't ping anything internally or externally same goes for my girlfriends phone, or they will start working temporarily but 90% of the time the ping can be up to 140ms and it will drop packets! Grrrrr :( any other suggestions?

Can you post a pic of the results from wifi analyser?

SKY3D816's signal is on the same channel and stronger (so will be causing more interference) than the plethora on channel 6. What channel does the app recommend you use? Edited by kearton

Problem is the Sky was on channel 6 last time I checked hence why I changed them to Channel 1 and 13. Though for some reason it's changed again, I'm wondering whether it's on auto and keeps trying to find the better channel which my wifi is on?
