Yep. We all knew what this whole Academy status was about. Continue to put pressure on Teachers to get children through an education system, while removing the responsibility from the Government. When it goes right, they will claim the credit but when it goes wrong they get to blame others.

 

Just the whole BSF mess again, I'm already aware of another trust having issues with falling grades not far from us (was in the paper).

The Government are just as much to blame here as they gave the AET too many schools too quickly.

Academy chains are under all sorts of fire at the moment. It'll take a mere fart from one of the pupils to get OFSTED in wagging fingers. There's far more politics involved in schools these days than education.

In our MAT (not a company making a profit, we make £0 profit) we have growing slowly. We are very careful not to let this kind of thing happen. All our schools have improved or stayed the same in one instance since joining the trust. A sudden explosion in size is no good.

The above is very true of us, we will also limit ourselves to 25 schools which i think the EFA prefers anyway

Standard procedure, allows the new "Director" board to be more in line with management. Would I be assuming correctly? that either A: Management have fallen out with the Governing body or B: new management has arrived in some way.

In a multi academy trust the Board has responsibility for everything. Local governing bodies do not have to exist in MAT schools and some things cannot legally be delegated from the board in any case.

 

In a chain with such a poor record on standards, it is more likely that the board has decided that the LGBs were not driving up standards and to try a different approach.

 

If the board is going to get the blame anyway, they may as well do the work
