Compatible RAM for my laptop???

Alright folks, I have a Lenovo G400s Touch laptop, with 4 GB RAM and has 1 memory slot free. I plan to add 4 more gigs of RAM to my laptop due to a certain software's requirements. I plan to buy the RAM online. But I'm struggling to understand what parameters I need to look at to find a compatible one. I did some research myself but couldn't find an article which clearly mentioned exactly what parameters HAD TO BE THE SAME as my current RAM for compatibility. I'm personally not able to find how much Volts my motherboard can handle, don't know where to find it.

 

Performance as good as my current RAM will be OK for me, so can someone please explain to me exactly what parameters I need to look for RAM compatiblity and perhaps their significance?

If the laptop has 2 slots. You would be better off replacing the current ram with kit ram (2x4gb or 2x8gb)

 

I wouldn't mix and match ram modules. For best performance I would buy kit ram.

Crucial has a tool on their website that wil tell you exactly what you need - haven't used it for a while but it has always been wonderful when I have

As long as you buy 1,600MHz DDR3L SO-DIMMS you'll be fine.

 

You could use Crucial's tool if you are not sure and either buy the RAM from them or elsewhere once you have the details from the scan.

Meh, mixing RAM modules is fine so long as the spec is the same. Try to match the timings, but even that's not that important unless you're going for top performance on a desktop.

I did try crucial scanner before writing the first post...It only gave me links from their website which was not sufficient enough for me... I needed more options...

From what I understand, L in DDR3L stands for low voltage, meaning 1.35 V instead of 1.5 V..

So based on that, I've decided to buy this:

Crucial Laptop DDR3 4 GB Laptop (CT51264BF160BJ) - Crucial : Flipkart.com

 

And this was my second choice:

ADATA Premier DDR3 4 GB Laptop (ADDS1600W4G11-R) - ADATA : Flipkart.com

 

Can somebody please confirm whether these 2 are compatible with my laptop? Thanks

If you are that unsure of what memory to buy I would advise using crucial configurator as they guarantee they supply the correct memory or your money back.

If you need multiple quotes to compare some suppliers will have a crucial configurator on their website linking to prices on their site Eg dabs insight I think misco too.

 

I would also recommend buying a kit. As likely just buying one stick will probably work with the existing module. You are guaranteed that they will both work on the provision you have put in the correct info.
