abillybob Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Hey Guys So I'm trying to manage Mac settings using Workgroup Manager 10.9. I have connected the server to AD and authenticated/imported AD into Workgroup Manager. When I try to click on a Security Group such as "Pupils" it hides the group and won't let me manage the preferences. If I then reload Workgroup Manager the group is back there so it's not deleting them or anything. I can seem to click on individual students username and manage the settings just fine it just seems to be the groups! Could anyone pweeeeeez help me?
3s-gtech Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 You need to create an OD group (in guides you'll often see this called od_managed) which then contains the groups from AD (easy to assign in WGM). Don't try to manage the preferences for the AD groups directly.

Any chance you could point me in the right direction on how to setup the OD group and import all the students from AD Pupils into the new OD group.
3s-gtech Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Have a look at Magic Triangle | krypted.com It's a long, long time since I last set up WGM, we recently moved to Profile Manager but I know you've had some games with that! The screenshots and process in the above guide should help, even though it also involves enrolling in PM (just ignore those bits). The great guides I used when setting up WGM back in the days of 10.5 have all gone, and much has changed.
