adamholt1 Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Hi, Probably a very simple one this (well i hope so!) Moving more machines each day over to Windows 8.1 however for some reason it keeps extending the desktop by default when connected to smartboards / large touchscreens. I've tried having a search to find a GPO to keep the displays duplicated rather than extending them but not finding much? Does anyone else have the same issues? If so, how do you get round it? Becoming a massive pain having to go to classes each day just to change this for teachers!! Thankyou!
sted Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 i doubt theres a gpo for it but there is a command line version (which you could add to all ujser startup or as a pc startup script displayswitch.exe /clone note i havnt used it but its in one of the ms exam books
Michael Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Is the computer itself a notebook or desktop running Windows 8.1?
Achandler Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 We got round it by teaching the teachers how to use extended desktops! Emphasizing the advantages of being able to do work on one screen while the students see something else without having to use freeze on the projector! We also showed them how to turnt he displays as cloned instead, using the Windows Key + P technique. if they have both choices then they can manage by themselves.
adamholt1 Posted January 21, 2016 Author Posted January 21, 2016 Is the computer itself a notebook or desktop running Windows 8.1? Desktops and laptops! But where there is a desktop, an additional monitor is attached by the PC.
