ass17 Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 Strange that I've just tried to login again and it works???? Selected personal device and all is great! Only problem is that when you logout you cannot connect to another HAP server as it remembers the previous one. Right, it works because I'm at school on the school wifi. But outside or 4G then it fails. So is it a cert issue?
Stuajnht Posted June 1, 2017 Author Posted June 1, 2017 I'm getting the same issue. Could you PM me too? Or as there's a few, perhaps put it on here? Thank you Stuart ************* Update *************** I've turned my PROXY off and it now works. Does this mean it will work from off site? Normally the first step I ask for is to run a test against SSL Labs to see what the certificates are being shown as: https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/index.html I'll need to have a link to the results page that is generated, but as most people probably don't want to publicly list their school details, feel free to PM them should a problem not be obvious. Right, it works because I'm at school on the school wifi. But outside or 4G then it fails. So is it a cert issue? I would say yes, but it could also depend on how you've got IIS bindings set up and what listens when connections come in. If your bindings for port 443 have different IP addresses (normally: 127.0.0.1, *, ) then the certificates need to be the same for all.

Stuajnht Posted June 1, 2017 Author Posted June 1, 2017 Hi all, For those of you who are having problems getting past the login screen, if your tests from the SSL Labs website are coming back fine, could you also check with this website too: https://apptransport.info/ This will let you know if the HAP+ server settings are compliant with Apple's App Transport Security requirements, or what changes may need to be made on your server to allow the app to connect.
mdrabble Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 Tested and no issues logging in. Can upload photos and from cloud account but not from my device (although I think this was because had no files saved to device)
Stuajnht Posted June 1, 2017 Author Posted June 1, 2017 Tested and no issues logging in. Can upload photos and from cloud account but not from my device (although I think this was because had no files saved to device) Hi, Thanks for letting me know. Do you mean the "upload file" option from the menu? If so, due to the way Apple restrict apps and sharing files, you will need to share the file from the other app to the HAP+ app for it to show there. You can see it in action here (the design of the app has changed slightly, but the steps are the same): https://www.youtube.com/embed/cpr7Ar-a5MA?start=162&end=182&autoplay=1&modestBranding=1&rel=0
beneal Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 Stuajnht, We've had a play with this today and it really is very good! Well done and thanks to all involved - It's quicker and more streamlined than any other file access app we've tried (and paid for!). Just a couple of things we've thought of before we can see ourselves rolling it out across our school: We would install the app on iPads via our MDM. We can add a .plist file to add custom config, would it be possible to create a .plist file with the server details included so this is automatically filled in for the user? If you log out, you don't get the option to enter server details again. This would not generally be an issue but while we were testing we altered the server address and discovered we were then just stuck with no way to edit except reinstalling. It's nice not having the server address there on the login page all the time but maybe something could be added, either discreetly in the UI or within the iOS Settings to edit the server details or start afresh. Thanks! 1
Stuajnht Posted June 8, 2017 Author Posted June 8, 2017 Hi @beneal, Thanks very much for your appreciation of the app. To answer your questions: MDM plist I'll need to have a look to see how this can be achieved. There's currently very little resources for it online (one or two websites) so it may involve some playing around until I can get that working. Multisite Access Currently not being able to change the server details is by design. We are an all-through school on one site, so it didn't cross my mind to allow for such a feature. The reasoning behind it not being able to be removed was I didn't want to spend all of my time having to put the server details back in when the students would inevitably change it. As removing the app is the only way to delete it, and removing apps is restricted for our students, it was the only way I could see it working. I am currently adding in multisite ability to the app (see screenshot for a general preview of how it will look). If you're happy to, PM me a contact email and I can add you to the TestFlight group for testing. This allows me to provide the app to certain users before being put onto the App Store, so any bugs with new features can be spotted. 1
beneal Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 Thanks Stuajnht. Have DM'd my email, we'd love to help with testing. There's some info on the Foldr site about using plist files with MDM which may be useful: What's new at Foldr HQ | Foldr - Free your files To be fair, if we can set the server this way then it doesn't really matter that you can't change it in the app.
DPenfold Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 All is good here, even able to deploy it via Apple's Profile Manager ! Thanks for taking the time to creating this. Also sent you PM about something else
Guest obsidianpillar Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 (edited) Hi, Looking to deploy this properly. However, was wondering if it's possible to configure a timeout whereby Users will be prompted to re-authenticate after closing the app etc (as an optional, not mandatory setting). Thoughts? Thanks, Tom Edited July 3, 2017 by obsidianpillar
Stuajnht Posted July 10, 2017 Author Posted July 10, 2017 Hi @TomMagee, Sorry for the delay in getting back to you... end of term busyness and all that. Currently the app does have an undocumented feature (because I forgot to document it!) where the user is automatically logged out based on the following conditions all being true: The timetable plugin is set up correctly in HAP+ and the users timetable can be collected The device is set up in "shared" mode The current user was in a timetabled lesson when they logged in to the app and the lesson has now finished Other than that, the app is designed to stay logged in continuously as per the Apple app guidelines to restore the previous state of the app when it is opened up again. However, I can see how your idea will be useful to prevent any accidental access to data if a user does not log out of the app when they have finished using it. Thanks for your suggestion, and I'll add it as a feature to the app in a later version. 1

Need to get my tables working on our system lol It would be good/nice to have like an hour/hour half time limit on share access etc. kids are always forgetting to log out of things =\
BigG Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 I've only just found this app and started using it with some staff members this week, and I must say it's fantastic, the feedback has been great! Just one issue we are having at present is when trying to upload videos from the iPads. If I record a video and upload this works fine. However, if I try to upload a video that has been exported from iMovie it looks like it starts to upload then just refreshes and doesn't upload the video. Are you aware of the issue / is there a workaround? Great work on the app! 1
Stuajnht Posted July 13, 2017 Author Posted July 13, 2017 Hi @BigG, Thanks for your appreciation and feedback! It's very much appreciated. With regards to your problem of videos starting to upload then refreshing, this is something that I've been made aware of at our site last week. I'm unsure what's actually causing it, but am currently looking into the problem as it's quite annoying. I'm thinking it may be related to an update to the AVEVideoEncoder made in 10.3.2 which has broken some things. Request for Assistance Do you (or anyone else who wants to help) have any devices running older versions of iOS prior to, as well as, 10.3.2? If so, would you be able to test if uploading videos in the app works correctly and let me know the result please for each iOS version. Thanks to all in advance.
BigG Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 I've just tested on an old iPad 2, IOS 9.3.5. I exported a Movie from iMovie (2.2.3) and when trying to upload to HAP+ app I still get the upload then refresh issue. Again if I just record on the iPad and then attempt to upload the video I have recorded it uploads fine. So it looks like the same issue as when using the iPads that are on the latest IOS. Not sure if there has been a recent update to iMovie maybe?
