Some of our users are complaining that if they use IE to visit google (either .com or .co.uk) all they see is a white box with a spinning circle, on a grey background, which they can't interact with. Other sites work fine, and accessing google through Chrome is also fine.

We access the Internet through a Bloxx filter, but this is happening to staff and students, and staff have a very light filter.

Any ideas?

Hi Clare,

Is it fine on other browsers? Give the team a call and we'll be able help you investigate further.

Cheers,

Grant

p.s. down at BETT this week on stand F330 if you're around and want a chat.

It's fine on other browsers. I can't reproduce it, which is why I haven't logged a call. I'll wait until I get it reported again, so the team have some information to track.

I've got no idea why it stops IE in it's tracks, but what they are seeing is the 'a message from google about privacy' which users have to click through and agree.

IE through our lightspeed filter seems to take a long time to display the page compared to the other 2 tabs that open at the same time, but it does get there.

google.com has full access through the firewall, and, while we do use SSL Intercept, I don't want to add google.com to the exceptions - I do want to see what the students are searching for (in fact, I think we have to know - PREVENT and all that)

OK, I've got the same but it only seems to be affecting IE on student accounts.

Weirdly i either get the spinning non interactive box or a ribbon at the bottom of the google search page which gives a "navigation to the webpage was cancelled" when you click.

Something obviously blocked on the student filtering settings but nothing pops up as denied!
