timbo343 Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 (edited) Ive just bought one and to be fair they are alright as long arent playing fallout4 . There are some good reviews on facebook but make sure you get the Linx1010b. It has 2gb of RAM and think it should be upgraded to 4gb to future proof it. It as an ATOM quad core 1.3Ghz processor and seems to handle things fairly well. It has a full size USB sockets on the left of the device too along with a micro(??) HDMI, audio 3.5mm and a micro USB socket which is used to charge the device with the provided 2.0amp plug. Its fairly light.. ish weighing 1.1kg, about 600grams lighter than the Dell E4300 laptops which i bought the other half off ebay for xmas. I'm not sure how it compares to the Surfaces. The battery lasts for about 7 hours too. Here are some questions i fired over to linxtablets.com as i think things could be improved. Ill be interested to see what they say if they reply... 1. The Linx keyboard doesn't have any LEDs so unable to see if caps/number/scroll lock are enabled, maybe future versions of the keyboard could include status LEDs. 2. Finding and using the backslash character took 5 mins to get working, we now know out of trail and error, users need to press alt-gr and the specific key. 3. Keyboard case around the edge, near the touch pad buttons seems a bit flimsy. 4. The screen/keyboard hinge could do with been able to push back to a greater angle as the screen sits too upright so it can be a little bit difficult to see the tablet screen correctly. 5. It would be nice to see a status light which indicates if the device is on or in sleep mode. 6. It would be nice to see a 4gb version, i personally think 2gb is a little bit too low. Are there plans for a 4gb version? Also a 64gb SSD would be nice too. Edited December 8, 2015 by timbo343 1

Also no Apple products! Nobody's going to say it? Fine. You're getting ripped off, your missus is worth more than a tablet. Try and get a decent gaming rig, at least. What sort of thing is it going to be used for? I got my mum a Asus Android tablet a while back and she's always on it doing internetty things. I'll try and find a proper model name/number when I get in. 4

She'll also do the usual internet stuff FB/banking etc. Her sister has a kindle but she's restricted to apps and what she can do with it

Sounds like a cheap android tablet would do fine. Could always ask a supplier if they'd lend you one to test...
witch Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Yes, I have a Linx 10 and it is fine - my daughter is currently hammering it watching films, youtube and the like. It is fine for Facebook etc I bought it without a keyboard and got one later and I don't have any problems with the connections 1

Only complaint I've got so far (though granted, only had it two days) is that the sound is pretty meh. The speakers aren't fantastic and even with headphones, full volume (with the obligatory "You're gonna go deaf" warning) was pretty quiet. Could've just been the video call, though. Haven't tested it thoroughly.

Don't get a 1st gen one They've made a Hudl 2 now, right? Might be worth looking into. I was very impressed with my Hudl when I got it and it did serve me well for quite some time.

soapyfish Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 I bought a bunch of lenovo S8 tablets that we like very much. The only thing I would bare in mind is how easy it is to get replacement screens for any non apple tablet. Everyone + their dog seems to be able to repair the apple screens but other makes of tablet seem to be much harder to get fixed.
