Strange problem today, students can access google but when they click on a link to unblocked website i.e www.bbc.co.uk they get a blocked page with the message saying 'Your search results have been blocked because your search settings are not in accordance with company policy. In order to continue, please update your search settings so that Safe Search is set to the strictest setting.'

We haven't touched the Palto Alto or our server settings, yesterday and it was all working fine then so is there any thing that we may be missing ? Is it a windows update that has effected the setting ?

We checked this and we can now get the search to work but by asking the students to go to search settings and turn on safesearch. Not ideal when you have over 500 computers!

On our own machines once you turn the computer off and restart it reset's. Could it be a policy issue on the server ? Strange how it has only started recently considering Google changed over to SSL dycryption on june and we are having problems now !

I decided that it wasn't an acceptable solution. I've asked for url redirection as a feature request which hasn't happened yet.

My preferred soution was to remove links to iexplore from user accessible areas and to use GPO to change file security on iexplore.exe to prevent students from using it and then using chrome ADM to enforce chrome as default browser and to enforce safe search from there.

It was last week 25th when there were SafeSearch issues due to an update to Applications and Threats. I think it was update version 540.XXXX .

Caused us a bit of strife too :peep: . Once we rolled back one version and then skipped that version when 542.XXXX came out.

How do you update this ? I have a feeling that our Internet supplier control this .

You need log into the firewall and then head to Dynamic Updates under the Device Tab and check the version of Applications and Threats . In there the schedule will be set.

Going back now I think it was the 541-3008 update that caused the issue.

We don't have that option so It looks like we have to contact our Internet Supplier.

Thanks for the list, very handy.

Handy list , pity we cant get it working lol!!

We can block You tube for students but still can't enable safesearch in google.

Luckily the students haven't noticed yet , but they are accessing adult images. Thinking of blocking Google and going with yahoo or ask as they work fine.

Bizarre! Palo Alto really don't give clear instructions on using their firewall.
