Sims or IRIS?

Sure it's been asked before but what's the opinion on using SIMS against IRIS? Currently using IRIS but looking to potentially streamline everything and move over to sims for behaviour and reporting, we currently use pupil tracking for reports, sims for register and IRIS for behaviour.

Worth talking to @Sylv3r who opted for SIMS over IRIS but later found it clunky.

One discussion favours TASC Software over IRIS as it can do other things well too, so ultimately it depends what you want / need and also worth looking at the bigger picture of your broader use of SIMS and other areas you use or have problems with, and if you are planning on expanding the usage into other areas later.

We ultimately went with http://www.classcharts.com for our behaviour reporting side. Staff love it for both the behaviour and seating plan elements. With it also being webased staff are able to access it on their own devices leaving the classroom PC for teaching and learning.

 

Everything logged within Classcharts automatically uploads to SIMS, so our parents logging onto Sims Learning Gateway, still see the full achievement and behaviour logged by staff outside of SIMS.

 

As @vikpaw pointed out, our staff ultimately found the behaviour module on SIMS a little clunky and required a lot of data entry - this has since reduced considerably via the route to add behaviour via the registers but this came about after we started to use Classcharts.
