MrPstv Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Hola, Within your establishment who is responsible for the administration of usernames and passwords for the SIMS/CMIS cash office type applications? Well anything that is mapped from the MIS server! When it comes to usernames and passwords for the network and email this is my department. Ta in advance....
bossman Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 I administer anything to do with the Sims which is within my role as I manage the whole network, communications and Finance systems plus much more.
Arreks Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 We manage the SIMS server (updates, maintenance, installation), but our data manager/operations manager handles SIMS accounts and all that good stuff. 1
CamelMan Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Heads PA does the Personnel side of things - I then generate SIMS accounts off the back of it. I've been pulling back for the "manage everything with a username" side of things - if someone wants to bring in something new that doesnt integrate to AD (Library system, Special Needs database etc) then its up to those departments to mange them, I just help getting them going. We are growing to much for me to manage the lot!
ITBadger Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 I'm still in the 'anything with a username' camp. I do try to ensure that people consult me before purchasing though as it can be a nightmare when they order a product that doesn't integrate with existing school systems.
6Foot2 Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 We manage the servers but the individual departments manage their users on FMS and Facility. FMS > Finance, while CMIS is handled by what we call here the Admin Department (not to be confused with Network Support/Admin) 1
Narwhal Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 I administer all usernames and passwords including SIMS and FMS, in fact pretty much any system that has usernames and passwords!
MrPstv Posted November 13, 2015 Author Posted November 13, 2015 I have this debate with our Office Manager, you guys enter all the credentials of the users into Sims wouldn't it make sense to create the username and password at the same time! All Boxes ticked and ready to roll
MrPstv Posted November 13, 2015 Author Posted November 13, 2015 Access rights will need to be set and the Office Manager is in the best position to know this.
MalekoUK Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Heads PA deals with users and passwords, we deal with everything else.
browolf Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 the head of hr and the business manager (bursar) create sims accounts. I can but rarely remember how to. I can do password changes, if I'm asked.
rad Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Personnel add them onto the system, it is then down to ICT (me or NM) to administer their accounts and add the correct rights.
clockend25 Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 We administer SIMS accounts here, as above once HR have done their bit.
mikkydoos Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 I'm still in the 'anything with a username' camp. I do try to ensure that people consult me before purchasing though as it can be a nightmare when they order a product that doesn't integrate with existing school systems. I'm 'Anything with a plug' !
MrPstv Posted November 18, 2015 Author Posted November 18, 2015 I'm 'Anything with a plug' ! Same here but the added anything with a motor and wheels..
Oaktech Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 The borough do our Integris usernames at the moment but it will fall to the business manager come January. The Business manager also deals with who has access to the SCO application and RM Finance.
mikkydoos Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Same here but the added anything with a motor and wheels.. Lol. Me too. 'Whats the best thing I can re-stick my chrome sill cover with on my car' - Yesterday.
