Restricting Websites

I have a standalone Windows 8.1 PC that is being used as a visitor\reception area PC for Parents to use and would like to lock it down so it can only access three websites and no other websites.

 

I have tried to set this up using Microsoft Family Safety, but having to use the school proxy server to access the internet this is bypassing the Family Safety settings and allowing access to all websites.

 

Please can anyone recommend any other software or ideas which would allow me to do this, and work with the schools Proxy Sever setting.

I've done the opposite (block a site) with a proxy .pac file. You could use one to direct traffic for the 3 sites via the proxy and everything else goes direct or to a non-existent proxy.

Thank you for taking time to reply and for the suggestion. The problem I now have, it is a standalone PC and IE11 does not support local proxy.pac files. I guess I could get around it by installing a different web browser which does support local proxy.pac files.

We spent ages faffing about with all kinds of group policies etc but in the end this just works. We lock the laptop to the table with Kensington lock but it's a 7 year old Tosh with a dead battery so no harm done if it walks.

Remove DNS servers/point to dummy DNS servers and the entries in the hosts file - the cheap way!
