Windows 10 update bypass wsus

I got a slight problem with my windows 10 and my wsus updates

 

I don't seem to be getting any updates for my computer besides defender.

 

Is there away I can get to "check for updates from Microsoft" rather than wsus server

Is Windows 10 checked as a Product in WSUS? Should have appeared as an option after an update (certainly did on mine, Server 2912 R2 WSUS host).

I've done all that. Ours is on 08 r2. It's just not getting any updates down from Microsoft.

I've got issues with Win10 not getting updates from Microsoft when connected to a WSUS

I get the WSUS updates absolutely fine, but if I click "Check online for updates" I get an error code (Don't have it to hand)

I have to delete the Registry key for the WU policy and then I can get online updates (including insider preview builds)

I would check whether the updates have been approved or not. The default behaviour for WSUS is not download updates unless they're approved. It looks to me as though Definition Updates may more than likely have updates automatically approved, hence why Windows 10 is only receiving updates for this.

 

Another consideration is whether or not you control the parent WSUS server or are you part of a larger WSUS setup, controlling/managing only a child WSUS instance?

We only have one wsus server. And I know I need to approved the updates. But I'm not see any coming down to approve.

I'd suggest trying to sync it manually and check logs within WSUS.

Everytime i check the settings in wsus, windows 10 and office 2016 are ticked. Created 2 new update groups for the updates to sit in and it crashes out.

 

this is server 2008 r2.

You could try removing the WSUS role, but leave the data intact, re-add the role and see if this resolves it.

You might have issues with your wsus, but I'm sure to properly manage Windows 10 updates you also need to apply a Wsus update which is only available on 2012R2! so it might be time to build a new wsus box running 2012R2

Our WSUS server is still running on Server 2008 (not even R2 The shame of it) but I'm getting my Windows 10 updates through it no problem at all

I'm unsure whats going on with ours. Its on an older verishion of vmware which dosnt support 2012 r2. I think i may have a plan for it to be move off vmware and put on to hyper-v.

 

I'm unsure if i want to move it across and do an upgrade or just install from stratch. :\

Install from scratch but then migrate your database and updates across using the guides here:
