Duplicate Display Stuck to 1366 x 768 Resolution

Hi all

 

Laptop linked up to projector, if i go to duplicate the display, it automatically changes to 1366x768, casuing it to appear like a letter box, though if you go to calibrate smartboard, the calibration screen appears the full size, so not only do they have letterbox type view, but they cant use the interactive whiteboard. (though i got round this by showing the display as projector only, again causing that res, and then synced the board, this made it appear in the letterbox view aswell)

Any pointers as to why it would lock to one res?

Have you installed Intel's proprietry drivers? Their control panel should have options to adjust the display scaling to hopefully eliminate the letterboxing.

What resolution are the laptop screen and projector? At a guess the laptop is 1366x768 and the projector is 102x768. You'll always have a compromise if this is the case - you may be able to put the projector into a widescreen mode but it'll always be a cludge. Best thing is to match the aspect ratio between laptop and projector, they don't have to be the same native resolution though.

I had this issue today too. Projector native res is 1024x768 and laptop was stuck in 1366x768. I scaled the horizontal resolution for the '2nd monitor' (projector) to 75% within the Intel graphics control panel- and it does look significantly better. Was a pain though and I'd prefer it to set both resolutions to the projector's 1024x768 native res in all honesty. Hope this helps.

Can you set the projector to be the primary display? In duplicate display scenarios Windows will default to the resolution of whichever display is set to be primary.

I tried messing with the scaling last week and it made no difference, also tried to manually set resolutions aswell, this is a real bummer as we bought 8 of these laptops (from @ICTDirect_Dave) and they all do it. But they are very good laptops overall.
