Got a Hitachi cp-a222wn that turns on, fitfully tries to start the fan and then claims it's too hot. Anyone know of a cure (preferably one that doesn't involve the "big" remote, which has gone walkies). Have swapped bulb + cleaned filters.

It's a pretty well documented fault with that era of Hitachi. I had 5 or 6 get repaired onsite under warranty because of it. Any chance it's still under warranty?

Possibly, but I've been nagging the office since before the Summer Hols to track down the paperwork!

It must have been a very common fault - they just accepted the serial...

Thanks for that.

Great - I've found their support/warranty service to be good. After I'd replied last night, I had a recollection that my supplier had registered the warranty for me, so when I had a fault it was just a case of submitting the serial number. Maybe your office are being slow because they're puzzled that there is no record for them to find :D
