Hi,

so, a few weeks ago this laptop starting beeping when I was trying to rebuild it onto the network

I run a disk check and the disk check showed a back sector at the exact same time as it starting beeping.

I ordered a new drive, but this is an SSD (both sata connectors).

Whether I try to install windows 7/linux from a disc or USB or whether I try a network build - i always get these beeps. even with the SSD. (the beeping sounds the exact same as before I changed the drive). It happends 2-3 minutes after booting up. any ideas why this laptop is doing this?

battery seems to be charging still and it holds power.

Hard Disk or SSD in laptop makes it beep.

Im trying to find the old hard drive that was in the laptop to see if it actually did have bad sectors or if maybe it was a symptom of something else... here is a video of the beepi

MAKE SURE YOU TURN DOWN YOUR SOUND

also, the caps lock/num locks turn on and off with the beeping

I just sat in the bios for a few minutes while googling for an update... and then it started beeping whilst in the bios.

Im still going to try a bios update - but dont feel like this is the way now :( ...

Try looking up the beep codes for the laptop on the manufacturer website/Google.

Its an RM laptop - they said the beeps I described were not on the list. They have suggested I just confirm all hardware is working probably in tests (power supply/harddrive + ram)

Im going to re-test the ram tomorrow then send off if needed.. :( really needed this laptop working but oh well

Odd as this might sound take reseat the battery. This happens with Stone laptops.

Ive done this... I replaced the RAM and I plugged in a fan that was unplugged (the fan is attached to the part of the case which comes off.. so not sure if it was already unplugged or if i pulled it out)

it now seems to be working. Ill see if I can get to the end of this network build! so far so good..

thanks for help :)
