Hi

I have a question regarding my school network. I have a private 10.x.x.x address with 254 IP Address, as with most schools in the LEA.

but I'm wanting to create my own test network away from address range, but still have access to the internet.

I want to be able to create a test domain in a test environment!

I have a spare 10 port switch knocking about I can use for this project

is this possible?

BTW networks isn't my strong point, guidance would be most appreciated!

Thanks :)

Can't you just virtualise it all with hyper-v? Create a virtual switch in hyper-v, then make your domain computers and DC, servers etc and set them to use the virtual switch connection. They will effectively 'share' your hyper-v host's internet access. Any traffic bound for the internet from your VMs will come from just your hyper-v host's internal IP address.
